In the 18th century, the first municipal council of Ichalkaranji was started by the then chief Shrimant Narayanarao Ghorpade. The first handloom in Ichalkaranji was Mr. Brought by Vitthalrao Datar in 1904. Today it is known as a major textile manufacturing city. The needs in Ichalkaranji started increasing day by day and the businessmen were in need of money.
With the need for loom business and the city becoming industrialized to a great extent, to help the needy businessmen, social worker, late Shri. Mahavir Manere conceived the idea of starting a bank.
